HUM LOG - FIRST SERIAL IN INDIA.

It was telecasted on Doordarshan, India's national network on July 7, 1984, then the only television channel of India.

Hum Log is probably one of the most popular television serials ever. Most of us could identify with the characters of the show, so unlike those in the saas-bahu soaps today. It was directed by P Kumar Vasudev and scripted by Manohar Shyam Joshi.

The cast of the iconic TV serial Hum Log was recently spotted in Noida, when they celebrated the 30th anniversary of the screening of their first episode.

Reminiscing about the time Hum Log was aired on Doordarshan, the actors said that nothing could replace the stardom of the serial.

We were always together, like a family Joyshree Arora, who played the role of Bhagwanti, told us, "We used to go for the shoot in the morning and come back around 12 - 1 am. We were always together, like a family, and today we miss that. I was hardly 26-27 then and I was playing the role of a 45-year-old woman, so I had to put on a lot of make-up to look twice my age. So, whenever I went for functions, people never recognized me."

People still know me as Lalloo Talking about the Delhi shoot, Mumbai-based actor Rajesh Puri said, "Coming to Delhi is always special. Delhi is so different from Mumbai. It's so peaceful and full of warmth, the place and people are welcoming. We completed the shooting of all the episodes of Hum Log at Himachal Bhawan in Mandi House. We used to shoot two episodes every day. I remember the day when Rajesh Khanna invited me for lunch after seeing the popularity of my character Lalloo at a mahurat ceremony, and offered me a role in his film Alag Alag. People still know me as Lalloo."

It's last episode was on December 17th 1985.

MAYABAZAAR - a movie more than just a movie....!!!!

The film is the first ever Indian movie to be made bilingual(Telugu and Tamil) Simultaneously. Telugu Version is released on 27th march 1957 and Tamil version on 12th April 1957. The estimated budget of the movie is Rs.200,000 during that period.

After watching all international movies like, Lord of the Rings, Troy, Harry Potter, Flash Gordon etc, one would wonder what this movie made by Indians in 1957 offers in terms of story, special effects, acting and other aspects. But there ends the doubt. Maya bazaar is a tale which revolves around the kidnapping of Balarama's daughter Sasi rekha by Bhima's son Gatothgaja and her wedding to Abhimanyu, son of Arjuna. Full of special effects, camera tricks by the famous camera man Marcus Bartley, this movie is a visual feast to even modern audiences. The incredible star cast includes SVR, NTR, ANR, CSR, Relangi, Ramana Reddy, Savitri, Mukkamala, Mikkineni, and Surya kantam is unmatched in any other such venture. One can doubtlessly credit each of the above actors with a modern day Oscar.

This comedy is based on a mythological folk tale that draws its backdrop from the Mahabharata. Balarama (Gummadi) and his sister Subhadra (Rushyendra Mani), Arjuna's wife, agree to get their respective children married once they're old enough. Sasirekha (Savitri), the former's daughter, and Abhimanyu (ANR), the latter's son, thus have been in love with each other since their childhood.

FEW FACTS ABOUT THE MOVIE -

The Team of Mayabazaar created graphics with camera effects. This visual effects were accomplished way before the invention of the computers.

The whole city of Dwaraka, ruled by Lord Krishna is recreated as miniature set in space of 50×60 ft and lighting is placed beneath the set to give a natural look to the city. The credit to this creation also goes to Marcus Bartley.

Mayabazar have created a record for being the first ever Telugu move to be transformed from black and white to colour by Goldstone Technologies which was released in 2010 and was a commercial success that celebrated the 100 days function.

The first Movie to Conceptualize Laptop, Video Calling decades before they came into existence.

Mayabazaar have received the Filmfare Award in the category of Best Film in Telugu and also featured at 1957 International film festival of India and Indonesia. In March 2013 CNN-IBN conducted a poll for the greatest Indian movie all time have awarded Mayabazaar even after 56 years from its release.

RADIO WASN'T LATE...!!!

News of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor came as an interruption to their favorite program on Sunday afternoon on December 7th 1941 for most of the Americans. An Associated Press bulletin at 2:22pm first reported the attack to news organisations and Radio networks. After confirming the initial bulletin with the government, the major radio networks interrupted their regular programming beginning at 2:30 pm, bringing news of the attack which was still in progress.

In New York City, station WOR broke into the local broadcast of the Giants and Dodgers game while CBS informed listeners of the attack at 2:25 pm EST. NBC broadcast their first bulletin nearly 4 minutes later at 2:29:50 pm. Within minutes the CBS Radio Network broke into normal programming with more information read by announcer John Daly.

Honolulu NBC radio affiliate KGU( a radio station in Hawaii), provided the first and most comprehensive radio coverage of the event. What was known at the time was that Japanese planes, still swarming overhead in Honolulu, had used the station's signal to guide their planes to Hawaii.

While the attack was still in progress a reporter for KGU radio climbed to the roof of the Advertiser Building in Downtown Honolulu with microphone in hand and called the NBC Blue Network on the phone with the first eyewitness account of the attack, - "This battle has been going on for nearly three hours... It's no joke, It's a war" said the reporter. Ironically, a Honolulu telephone operator interrupted the broadcast after 2 1/2 minutes declaring a need for the line for an emergency call.
